Remote Tank for Kohler Generator sets

PPS are no longer a distributor for the Kohler Marine and Industrial products within Australia and for any Kohler product technical support we can refer customers or our technicians directly to Ty Martin of Clarke Energy: TyMartin| Service/Technical Support – Kohler Clarke EnergyTy.Martin@clarke-energy.com t: +61882902100 m: +61437101729 www.clarke-energy.com It is possible to connect a remote tank to a Kohler Generator set and not use the base tank as long as the following considerations are met. The Level indicator on the display will show empty if there is no fuel and will be inaccurate when running, if the remote tank has a level transducer this will have to be compatible with the controller or the fuel level function will need to be disabled to avoid confusion and alarm. Depending on the installation there may need to be an auxiliary pump or relay installed. If the tank is gravity feed there is a risk of too much fuel pressurising the fuel system and bleeding downinto the engine when stationary, a shut off solienoid on the tank activated by engine run signal would be a way to control this.If the fuel needs to be lifted there is a risk that the fuel pump on the engine may be insufficient and a lift pump activated by an engine run signal will be required. If the system is fitted with a DEC 4000 it is possible to use the J21Configurableoutput to activate a fuel solenoid or lift pump to top up the base tank based on fuel level in the base tank.
