Selection of Fluid Fittings
When selecting fluid fittings for flammable liquids, it
is important to utilise Parallel Thread Fittings with Sealing Rings as a
priority.
Marine Classification Societies and The Royal Australian
Navy mandate the use of such fittings.
Tapered Thread Fittings are to be avoided due to the
inability to specify a tightening torque, the reliance on a sealing agent or
thread tape needed to seal the threads, and the reduced thread engagement as
the fittings are disassembled.
An example of each is shown in the attached image.
