Initial engine maintenance check
Initial maintenance checks are considered important on all new, Rebuilt and Reman engines that have entered service or following any extensive repair / maintenance task that has entailed cylinder head removal. This task must be done before 1,000 hours operating time to eliminate any potential issues that could arise from "settling" or "bedding in" period for valves, valve seats, valve clearances, loose adjusters, etc. MTU has documented this action in all current maintenance schedules available on the BP. Penske PS have released TSD 17-08 to remind the business of the importance of this initial maintenance checks.
