4000-03 Camshaft Gear Taper Surface

4000-03 Camshaft Gear Taper Surface

New 4000-03 camshafts recently received (20V4000R43 P/N X52805100001) have a uniform "scratched" appearence on the cam gear taper position. Feedback from MTU confirms the new found marks are intended by production and the cams with these marks are fit to be used.

“After consultation with R&D, the marks on the pictures are intended and the cam shafts are free to use.

This is to increase the friction between the gear on the cam shaft.

After fitment of the gear a measurement needs to be taken  from the gear to the shaft and it should read max. < 0,02mm as per drawing.

So we’re happy that these camshafts are being used as they are.”
